Coffee Event Volunteer

The role

BlindAid are running several coffee events for our Service Users. These are great opportunities for people enjoy some social time outside of their homes, meet some new friends and to learn more about local organisations & activities that may be of interest. Volunteers will have responsibility for greeting and helping to guide Service Users from travel points and helping to facilitate conversation between attendees during the event.

Due to the current covid-19 pandemic, we are currently looking for volunteers who would like to support isolated, visually impaired Londoners over the phone and we will be restarting our coffee events as soon as is safe to do so.

The person

You have excellent conversational/interpersonal skills, sensitivity and a strong commitment to the welfare of others. You are courteous, reliable and completely trustworthy.

Visual Impairment awareness and sighted guide training will be provided by BlindAid.

We are running coffee events in 2 locations at the moment:

Tower Hamlets

This event is held at The Bow Brew, 83 St Paul’s way, E3 4AJ, on alternate Thursdays at from 11-1pm


This event is held on alternate Tuesdays at the Rachel Leigh Community Hall, 32 Andrews Walk, (on John Ruskin Street), SE17 3JQ, between 1-3pm

We are also looking to start more events in other boroughs imminently.
